Chemical Bitterness: Chapter 5

Chapter 4

Location: Vladivostok, Primorsky Krai, Russia
Time: August 4, 2015. 03:30 P.M. (Vladivostok Time)

They both smiled and hugged each other. Was the next day going to be different?

They would have known only the day later.

"I'm going to have a shower now, I think I need it", said Dmitry, laughing.
He took some clothes with him and went to the bathroom. Dmitry's olfactory fatigue kicked in, so he couldn't smell Ekaterina's farts anymore, in that moment. However, he knew he stunk. But olfactory fatigue doesn't last forever, and the next day, his nose would be as sensitive as before. Dmitry was excited at the idea of winning 200 Rubles, but Ekaterina knew she would make the game as difficult as possible, to prevent him from winning and giving him money.

While Dmitry was taking a shower, Ekaterina started playing Battlefield 4. She giggled at the thought of stinking Dmitry's face. She knew her farts smelt absolutely toxic, so she was sure Dmitry wouldn't get any money from her. "There is no way he can stand my farts", she thought.

Dmitry was washing his hair. He couldn't want for the next day. He kept overthinking about that. He was very excited, thinking what could happen.

After 30 minutes, Ekaterina got tired of playing videogames, and Dmitry still hadn't finished having his shower, so she lied down on the bed and took a little nap (even thought she wasn't sleeping, she was just resting). She was waiting for Dmitry. Dmitry was now drying his hair, which he washed so intensely they didn't smell anymore. Once he finished drying his hair, he went to Ekaterina's room.

"I'm here!", said Dmitry.

Ekaterina was happy, and she said: "Hey!".
Then she said: "Please, don't tell anyone about this game!"

Dmitry replied: "Of course I won't! It's too weird! People would think we're crazy!", and laughed a little.
Ekaterina agreed, and asked: "What can we do now? I'm getting a little bored"
Dmitry replied: "This is the second time today! We can't keep it this way!"
Ekaterina replied: "I know! But you saw where the 'would you game' got to, and I can't think of anything we can do. I see, boring is our fate!"
Dmitry replied: "Of course it's not! Let's eat something!"
Ekaterina replied: "No! Please no! Don't even make me think about that!"
Dmitry replied: "I see... let's play chess!"
Ekaterina replied: "It's even more boring than doing nothing!"
Dmitry replied: "Well, tomorrow morning we'll go outside and then we'll play the fart game, right?"
Ekaterina replied: "Right, but now?"

Ekaterina had an idea.

"Let's hug!", she said.
"Ok!", said Dmitry, smiling.

They started hugging. It felt really nice, but there was a little problem: they just stood there with their arms wrapped around each other, doing absolutely nothing else. That wasn't funny or exciting. They hugged for about 40 seconds, then they both agreed that while it felt absolutely amazing, it was also very boring. They couldn't just hug each other all day long.

Dmitry suggested: "Why can't we just stop complaining we're bored?"
Ekaterina replied: "Because time will pass very slowly, this way! The more we complain, the more time passes, and the closer we are to tomorrow! Nice idea, uh?" Dmitry replied: "I can't wait for the next day, too! But we have to do something today, as well!"

Ekaterina suggested playing videogames, as that was the only thing they could to in that moment. Dmitry agreed and they started playing... Tetris! "Let's see how many points we can do!", said Ekaterina, with a competitive tone.
Ekaterina played the game and made 6600 points.

"That sucks!", she complained.

It was now Dmitry's turn. He started playing, but he couldn't find a lot of clever ways to erase the lower blocks, and as the blocks filled half of the screen, his score was only about 1500. He kept finding the wrong blocks, so the total score was only 2020.
"Why do I always fail in every game?", thought Dmitry, referring to both Tetris and the farting game.

"I know what you're thinking, but don't worry, it takes a lot of practice and luck to make a lot of points!", reassured Ekaterina. She thought Dmitry was only worried about failing at Tetris. The truth was: he was also worried about failing at the farting game. Ekaterina wasn't even thinking about that, she almost forgot it.

Dmitry was thinking a game where he could beat her. He couldn't think of any, at that moment, because:

1) Ekaterina's farts were too gross for him
2) She was very good at playing videogames

"There must be something else", thought Dmitry.

"Do you want to play again?", asked Ekaterina.
"Ok!", replied Dmitry.
"Maybe I was just unlucky, I'll retry!", thought Dmitry.
"You begin!", concessed Ekaterina.
"Thank you!", replied Dmitry.

He was trying as hard as he could to erase all the lines. He was succeding. He made 200 points and the first line was still "open". Was he lucky, or was he getting better?
He made 800 points, and only three lines were occupying the screen. He thought he was becoming a "master" in this game. Sadly, when half of the screen was covered by the blocks, his total scores was only about 1600. But he was getting better, indeed. He was able to clear a line, every now and then, exceeding 2500 points. "I'm so good!", thought Dmitry. He didn't know whether Ekaterina could beat him, but he thought so. He was about to lose, but he exceeded 3000 points. He lost with 3120 points.

Ekaterina was laughing a little, and said: "Now, let the Queen of Tetris play!". Dmitry was imagining her saying "Now, let the Queen of Farts stink up your face!", the day after. It was a disturbing image, and Dmitry didn't know why he was imagining that. He stopped thinking about that and started watching Ekaterina playing Tetris.

She was very good. She was cleaning lines very quickly, making 1000 points very fast. He knew he couldn't compete with her. Even with three lines occupying the screen, she already made 3200 points. She had very good skills and abilities, as well as an amazing eye coordination and memory, while playing Tetris. There was no way Dmitry could beat her in that state. Even with half of the screen covered, she made more than 5000 points. She almost lost, and she got over the 8000 points threshold. She still cleaned the lines quickly, so she made a lot of points in a very short amount of time. Her final score was 9980.

"I'm not very good today!", said Ekaterina.
Some hours have passed, and they kept doing the same things: complaining they were bored, chatting, hugging and playing videogames.

Dinner was ready. They went to the kitchen to eat.

"Were you having fun playing videogames?", asked Anna, smiling.
"Of course we did! Dmitry couldn't beat me at Tetris! I'm so good!", replied Ekaterina.
Anna didn't know Dmitry was smelling Ekaterina's farts for 100 Rubles, and she would have been shocked if she knew.

The dinner had a quite relaxing atmosphere, and after it was finished, Dmitry and Ekaterina brushed their teeth and went to Ekaterina's room again.

"This day was so awesome! Let's redo it tomorrow!", said Ekaterina
"Of course! I told you before: we'll go outside in the morning, and then we'll play the farting game! It will be a nice day, and I still can't wait for it! I'm not sure if I'll be even able to sleep!", said Dmitry.
"Of course you will!", said Ekaterina. Then she hugged him for about 5 seconds. It was a short hug for their standards, but they liked it.
"I'll try to not be disgusted, tomorrow", said Dmitry, proudly.
"Do you think you will win?", asked Ekaterina, blinking.
"I don't know, but I'll eventually get used to it!", said Dmitry.
"I've only had 13 farts today! I think tomorrow I'll have more! The more I eat beans, the more I fart, right? And, well, the stinkier they will be!", said Ekaterina.

Dmitry was a little scared, but he didn't mind, and replied: "Tomorrow I'll be different! You won't be able to disgust me in any way!"
Ekaterina, knowing he couldn't do so, asked, in a cute voice: "Well then, can I fart in your face tomorrow? You said I wouldn't be able to disgust you"
Dmitry, remembering that awful experience, started shaking his head a little, and replied: "Uh... uhhh... in my face? You'll kill me! No!"
Ekaterina started giggling, and said: "Two words: 1000 Rubles!"
She knew he couldn't stand that. 1000 Rubles are a lot of money for a stupid challenge, but she knew she wouldn't lose that. She didn't regret saying that. Dmitry was in! 1000 Rubles are a great amount of money, he couldn't afford to lose that match. Ekaterina's farts, on the other hand, would intoxicate him if he smelled them directly.

He was undecided, which was better: 1000 Rubles, or his live? He eventually decided that 1000 Rubles weren't enough for smelling her farts so close, so he refused.

"I'll smell your farts like I did before, putting my head on your legs, nothing more!", said Dmitry.

"Only 200 Rubles then!", replied Ekaterina.

200 Rubles weren't a bad amount of money, though. "Her farts aren't that bad. They felt so awful because I was expecting them to be a lot less stinky, since she was a girl. Now that I know how terrible they are, I can smell them easily. They're just farts, come on!", he thought.

"Agreed! We'll do this! I can't wait!", said Dmitry.

"Have patience, please. Relax! I've already brought a lot of pre-baked canned beans in my room, they're in that closet! I'll start eating them after I get up, ok? We'll have fun!", said Ekaterina.

Dmitry had already won 5 Rubles, but that was just symbolic, since he couldn't buy almost anything with that money.

"Are you ready for your defeat?", said Dmitry.
"My defeat? Well, I'll start eating beans every morning, afternoon and evening by tomorrow, and in a few days, my farts will be so bad you won't even come in my room anymore!", said Ekaterina, giggling. She liked the idea of her farts being very bad.

"I don't think so! We'll see it tomorrow!", said Dmitry.
"I'll be gentle with you!", reassured Ekaterina, smiling.
"You won't need it!", replied Dmitry.
"Ok then! We'll lock ourselves inside the closet and I'll stink it up!", said Ekaterina, giggling.
"No! No! I'll only put my head on your legs!", said Dmitry
"Ok! But you won't make it even this way!", said Ekaterina
"But I'll beat you at Tetris, right?", asked Dmitry
"That's more likely!", replied Ekaterina
"You're so good at that game!", said Dmitry
"I know, I know", replied Ekaterina

They kept chatting about the fart game, and then about Tetris, the other videogames, and other things.

"I'm tired now. I think I'll go to bed", admitted Ekaterina.
"So am I, goodnight", said Ekaterina.

"Hug", said Ekaterina, in a very cute voice

Ekaterina and Dmitry hugged each other good night for more than a minute, and then they went to their beds.

An epic day was awaiting them.
